Today the first of four Advent candles will be lit in homes in Germany. The Prophecy Candle… the Candle of Hope. A candle will be lit on the Advent wreath each Advent Sunday until Christmas Eve. Then all four will burn. That’s just one of many traditions that make a Christmas in Germany.

Our tradition continues: first Advent Sunday means enjoying Irish breakfast with friends, followed by finding the most beautiful Christmas tree(s), cutting it down and taking it back home.
