South Tyrol

Another long weekend (in the south of Germany, lucky us). A very scenic drive almost from home all the way south. Hubby on his motorbike, Charlie and I in the Mini.

Crossing the Alps. Winding roads. Later vineyards. Wine. The temperature is getting hotter. Delicious food. 300 sunny days a year.

View to the Zugspitze ⛰️ from Austria. First Cappuccino stop.
Perfect moment taking a shot of the SUP on Lake Eibsee.

Benvenuto, we arrived in Bella Italia!

Arrived: tired but happy.

Italy is amore! Italy evokes feelings of love and romance, associated with its beautiful landscapes, rich history, delicious food, and passionate culture.

Now we discovered a for us new part of Italy and I couldn’t say it better than Franz Kafka: He described South Tyrol as “the most beautiful land” he had ever seen. ❤️

South Tyrol is a wonderful province filled with excitement and adventure. It is the home of the incredible Italian Alps and the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cruising along the Strada del vino. Wine tasting included, of course.

Wine tasting. Part one: the white wines & rose. Of course with cheese & Speck!
Part two: the red ones.

If there is a Valhalla for foodies it may be in South Tyrol. Thanks to the region saddling northern and southern Europe, South Tyrol offers a rare, all-embracing culinary landscape. German, Tyrolean, Italian and Ladin cultures all have a place at the table.

Typical Tyrolean specialities include hearty dishes such as Speckknoedel & Gulasch. So good, despite 35C degrees. Lol.

Gemischte Tiroler Platte 🥰
Dolce Vita!
Bärlauch Risotto with grilled scallops 😁

South Tyrol has it all. You simply can’t beat terraced vineyards backed by a view of the snowcapped Dolomites in the distance. Stunning!

This is our first time in Tyrol. We are loving it.

Peace for the soul

We did! 🍷

Bonjorno!
A swim. Reading. Siesta. Repeat.
Breathtaking views
That panorama!
Sleeping in the vineyards. Literally. We dreamt of Weißburgunder 💭 🍷
The sun is setting after a beautiful day.

Vespa 😍

We are huge fans of Europe. Germany – Austria – Italy. 3 countries and not a single passport control at any of the borders. Crossing the alps in each of the countries. Each of them stunning.

We made it back home. The end of school holidays and the long weekend made it quite exhausting. Super proud of hubby on his bike crossing the alps ⛰️twice within a couple of days. Chapeau!

By the way, yesterday was the longest day  of the year, that’s when the northern hemisphere is tilted closer to the sun than any other day of the year!

Happy summer!
